The Washed Ashore mission
Washed Ashore builds and exhibits aesthetically powerful art to educate a global audience about plastic pollution in oceans and waterways and spark positive changes in consumer habits.
Under Angela Haseltine Pozzi’s leadership, community members clean up our beaches and transform the debris into sculptures of sea life affected by plastic pollution.
Lead artist, Angela Haseltine Pozzi uses art as a powerful tool to encourage community and environmental action about her true passion: cleaning up the world’s oceans!
We use 98% of this trash to create sculptures, such as a walk-through replica of an ocean gyre, a Styrofoam coral reef, Octavia the Octopus and a plastic bottle sea jelly.
Meet the Washed Ashore team
As leader of a team of dedicated employees and hundreds of volunteers, Angela has vowed that this effort is her calling and “until we run out of plastic on the beach, we will keep doing our work.”
