Art Production Assistant

Supervised by Lead Artist

Part time, 25-30 hours per week. It could possibly work into more.

Washed Ashore is looking for an enthusiastic skilled person who loves to learn, works hard, cares about the environment, thrives while working with others, has an artistic bent and wants to join a great team of people working on the important mission of our non-profit., Washed Ashore.

The Art Production Assistant works closely with the Artistic Director and Lead Artist to prepare materials for Washed Ashore sculpture building. The primary job will be processing marine debris by washing, cutting, sorting and organizing. The Art Production Assistant also works with the Art Assistant to help in basic tasks relating to creating, handling and shipping of sculptures. Flexibility, and being an experienced team player is key to success.

Applicant must be dedicated to OSHA safety measures and least 3 years’ experience with a variety of saws, tools and heavy machinery. This is a physically demanding job and requires the worker to be able and willing to climb high ladders, lift up to 50 lbs., work outside in the cold and rain and be able to be on their feet for up to 4 hours at a time on hard surfaces.

This job may also involve working with volunteers, tourists and other staff members as needed and requires good communication skills. This job also may involve installing and de-installing Washed Ashore exhibits and must be able to travel out of the state and country as needed. Must have valid driver’s license and able to drive a truck and forklift.
